Rolling Stone reader profile

Rolling Stone magazine reader profile- http://www.srds.com/mediakits/rollingstone/demographics.html

A reader profile is created so that the publishers and editors of the magazine can see the demographic of the audience. This is so that they know who the target audience of the magazine is and they can aim their articles and segments towards the target audience. This reader profile shows that the main readers of the magazine are males over the age of the 18, with an average age of 35, to cater this audience the editors will include articles that appeal to males of this age. The breakdown of the target audience goes into a lot of detail so that the magazine can be specifically aimed at the main readers of the magazine. The reader profile of a magazine will usually include age, gender, race, home life and education. Due to this magazine having an older target audience the articles and advertisements that are included with be tailored to this specific audience. Certain brands that are used with be age specific like Levi jeans are more likely to be advertised than Adidas shoes.

Upon doing my research in the form of questionnaires I have discovered that my primary target audience is males aged between 18-30. Due to this information the articles and advertisements that I include in my magazine with be specific to this age range. This means that I will not include any advertisements for children or advertisements that are specifically for women.
